Top spool holder
This page is divided in three sections:
Filament guide
You have here 3 options, depending on your enclosure.
A- Simple filament’s guide (PrusaBox)
Files in 0PB_Prusabox > 14B_Top_Spool_Holder:
14B_For_PB_simple_filament_guide
Assemble the filament guide to the top of the printer-box with 4 M3x6mm screws (screw heads on the outside). There is no need for nuts: this part of the printer-box will not be subject to any pressure.
B- Chimney filament’s guide

STL files in “14B_Top_Spool_Holder” folder:
ModularBox:
- 14B_For_MB_top_filament_guide_base
- and one of the top part you want: 14B_For_MB_top_filament_guide_xxx
PrusaBox:
- PB_filament_chimney_base
- and one the top part you want :PB_filament_door_top_xxxx
The filament chimney is assembled with 6 M3 screws and nuts.
Move the extruder to each side to make sure that the filament is moving correctly.
If not, make sure that:
- The filament is sliding freely in the PTFE tube
- The PTFE tube is only 1cm in the top part of the chimney.
C- No filament’s guide (ModularBox)

STL files in “14B_Top_Spool_Holder” folder:
- 14B_For_MB_top_filament_no_hole
If you don’t want to use any top spool holder, print this file to seal the top slot.
Top Spool holder for Prusa
This mod uses the Prusa mk3s genuine spool holder and
adds a filament chimney to reduce filament friction.
Assembly time: 10 min
- M3 screws and nuts
- Prusa genuine double spool holder or printed here
Mount your Caribou spool holder on this parts, screwed to the top of your ModularBox.
STL file in “14B_Top_Spool_Holder” folder:
- PB_top_prusa_spool_mount
Step 1 Assemble the spool holder
Step 2 Assemble to the metal frame
Top Spool holder for Caribou
This mod uses the Prusa mk3s genuine spool holder and
adds a filament chimney to reduce filament friction.
Assembly time: 10 min
Mount your Caribou spool holder on this parts, screwed to the top of your ModularBox.
STL file in “14B_Top_Spool_Holder” folder:
- 14B_For_MB_top_spool_holder_Caribou_mount
Spool holder itself is the one from Caribou3D, available here
Step 1 Prepare the spool holder
Assemble your spool holder with the given hardware. Use section’s nuts to assemble the spool holder to its base.
Step 2 Assembly
Assemble the spool holder to the metal frame using crossbeam’s M4 screws and nuts.
Assemble then the chimney with M3*6 screw, that will allow to guide filament with less friction.
